Veneers

Veneers are placed over the top of a tooth to enhance your smile. They benefit people who have chipped or stained teeth or large gaps.

The veneer itself is usually made from porcelain which resembles the appearance of natural teeth. Corporate Drive Dental Clinic can create and fit custom-made veneers to suit the shape of your existing teeth.

  • Restore the brightness of teeth
  • Straighten your smile
  • Add strength and resilience to cracked, worn or chipped teeth
  • Close gaps between teeth

DENTAL VENEERS – THE PROCESS

Obtaining dental veneers usually requires multiple visits. At your initial appointment, your dentist will examine your teeth and ask you questions about your desired cosmetic results. Your options will be explained, and a tailored treatment plan will be made for you.

If veneers are determined to be appropriate, first step is the preparation of the tooth/teeth followed by an impression of the area. This will be sent to our specialised dental lab, where the veneers will be manufactured. Generally, this process can take up to 2 weeks.

An appointment is made before leaving our clinic for the bonding of the veneer. Your dentist will ensure that the veneer fits correctly and is the right colour, minor adjustments can be made if necessary.

If you would like to discuss the option of having dental veneers fitted, we are just a short distance from Bentleigh East, Clarinda, Cheltenham, Moorabbin and surrounding suburbs.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VENEERS AND CROWNS?

Veneers are less intrusive and much smaller than crowns. Thin pieces of porcelain are applied to the front of the tooth, whilst crowns encase the whole tooth. Veneers are the preferred option for patients with minor cracks, chips or discolouration within their teeth. Crowns are normally only used for patients who exhibit extensive damage.

MATERIAL CHOICES FOR VENEERS

  • Porcelain is the preferred material for veneers, as it can last 20 years or more and requires minimal maintenance. Porcelain is also highly resistant to stains and has similar light reflectance to natural teeth, resulting in a more natural smile.
  • Composite Resin Veneers are a cheaper option, but they only last around 8 years and are more susceptible to damage. Patients who want a quick fix may prefer composite resin, as it can normally be applied in a single visit.
